Welcome to One Habit Coaching. Please read our policies and editorial standards below. We believe in transparency, trust, and ethical practice in everything we publish and deliver. Below you’ll find our guiding principles and policies.
Scope of Practice and Professional Standards
One Habit Coaching provides non-clinical nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle coaching within the limits of our professional qualifications. We do not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions, and we encourage clients to consult with their GP or a qualified healthcare provider for any medical concerns.
Our coaching is based on evidence-informed principles from Precision Nutrition (PN), Nutrition as well as Sleep, Stress and Recovery (SSR) Coaching, and Level 3 Advanced Personal Training. We follow a trauma-informed coaching approach, creating a safe and supportive environment for clients.
Where appropriate, we may collaborate with other health professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
We also use assessment tools such as the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) to better understand a client’s relationship with food. The DEBQ helps assess tendencies in three key areas:
External eating: How likely someone is to eat based on environmental cues.
Emotional eating: How likely someone is to eat in response to strong emotions such as stress, sadness, or worry.
Restrained eating: How likely someone is to consciously restrict or control food intake (for example, through strict dieting).
Using this tool allows us to:
Identify strengths and current positive behaviours.
Highlight areas that may need support.
Recommend skills and practices that fit the client’s needs.
Co-create options or referrals and next steps that align with the client’s goals.
Editorial Principles
What we write about
We create content around health, fitness, nutrition, stress management, and sustainable habit change. Our focus is on practical, evidence-informed strategies to help individuals improve their well-being without resorting to extreme diets or quick fixes.
Who we write for
Our primary audience is people who have struggled with eating habits, exercise consistency, and long-term health behaviours—often due to years of yo-yo dieting or lifestyle challenges. We aim to provide clear, supportive, and realistic advice for anyone ready to make meaningful, lasting changes.
Why we write
We believe health is not about perfection but about progress. Our content is designed to educate, empower, and encourage sustainable habits for life, rather than temporary solutions.
Ownership and Funding
One Habit Coaching is a sole trader business, owned and operated by Nico Valla T/A One Habit Coaching.
