Weight loss can be a superficial goal, but the deeper reasons behind losing weight can be life-changing.

Not only did Naomi lose 24kg on this coaching programme, but she also lost 25cm around her waist, and cm’s from every other circumference measurement we took. This sounds impressive – since her goal was weight loss – but the most impressive part of Naomi’s story is how this affected her whole life. Well beyond her surface-level goal of losing weight.

 

 

Programme Review

 

Today I’m going to explain how Naomi achieved these results in a little more detail in the hope that you can benefit from hearing about her success and the strategies she took to achieve her goal. Firstly let’s hear what she has to say about her coaching and weight loss journey.

It Started With A Nudge

 

I don’t normally nudge clients to take their first step into my coaching programme because they have to be ready. But when Naomi contacted me last year, I could tell she’d be perfect for this programme.

She told me her background – too busy to exercise and eat healthily, a couple of decades wasted dieting and now in feeling terrible about her weight and her health.

What Naomi thought she wanted was the latest ‘best diet’.

Another 30-day detox, Cambridge, Paleo, Zone, Keto, Vegan. The list goes on. What Naomi wanted was a solution to her weight gain and her failed attempts over the years. What she thought that solution was is whatever was marketed to her at the time – the latest restrictive ‘best diet’ was, or some other short term plan with a big promise.

Who can blame her? After all, that’s what people do to lose weight, isn’t it? Just look at the social proof all over social media!

Here’s the thing though. All those options are short term and will come to an end because they either:

  • Require too much change too soon,
  • They are too uncomfortable or
  • They require too much effort to do forever.

Old habits creep back in eventually and the diet-cycle continues.

After speaking with Naomi, I understood that she was desperate to lose weight, and not to regain it, and she understood that a sustainable approach was needed. Small steps over time.

When I told her about my programme she wasn’t sure.

I mean, who would be? There was no bold claim of rapid weight loss. It didn’t promote the latest trend. After all, nobody seeks ‘sustainable online nutrition and lifestyle coaching’, when ‘get bikini body in 60 days’ is on offer. But sustainable nutrition and lifestyle coaching is what I offer.

So I gave Naomi a nudge.

I distinctly remember saying to her at the time, ‘I feel like you need a little nudge’.

We’re both really glad I said that. The other day she emailed me to tell me she’s now ‘wearing her teenaged daughter’s leggings’, and has ‘lost five stone and not reverted back to old habits’.

Coaching Client Naomi’s Weight Loss Results

 

I’ll start off by saying that weight loss is never a straight line. The graph looks pretty consistent weight loss over the course of several months, but in reality it had several plateaus and bumps along the way.

Here’s where the magic happens however:

If you focus on the results, nothing much will happen (except for frustration). When you focus on the process (habits), results (weight loss) comes without the stress normally associated with losing weight.

Naomi did just this. She had faith in the process that we followed, and she consistently focused on the process goals that we agreed. She did track her weight loss results, but this was not her focus. Her focus was practicing her daily habit.

The result was sustained weight loss, because of this she now emails me things like this:

I’m now ‘wearing her teenaged daughter’s leggings’, and have ‘lost five stone and not reverted back to old habits’.

  • Naomi lost 24.4kg which for her was life-changing
  • Her weight dropped 24%
  • She went from 102kg to 77.6kg from September to June (10 months).

As you can see, Naomi lost cm’s from every single circumerence that we tracked. An important metric for health is waist circumference, which in Naomi’s case reduces by around 25cm in the process. For her, this meant her health was improving, as was her energy and mobility.

  • Waist went from 118cm to 93cm
  • Hips went from 120cm to 106cm
  • Upper arm went from 40cm to 36cm

Are You Ready To Achieve Results Like Naomi?

 

If you want to lose weight and have experienced dieting in the past, you’ve noticed fluctuations in your weight along with progressive weight gain, and you feel guilty about the foods you eat and eating socially then maybe you’re ready to try a different approach.

In fact, I’d say, if you waited for an uninterrupted six weeks stretch you’d be waiting a long time!

Successfully achieving and maintaining nutrition and lifestyle goals comes from firstly starting, and secondly, consistently taking imperfect action and not letting perfectionism stop you trying.

 

Nutrition Coaching Is Not For You If…

 

If you’re really not ready, this programme is probably not for you, and that’s okay.

It’s not for you if you’re a professional model or athlete, you’re very lean with high-level food skills, and you’re seeking a very restrictive diet, counting calories and macro-nutrients with advanced nutrition methods.

It’s not for you if you need to lose weight but you’re looking for a quick fix diet or rapid weight loss ‘magic pill’.

And the programme isn’t for you if want a massive overhaul of your nutrition and lifestyle on day one, and you’re not ready to commit to making small, easy and incremental changes in your life – one new habit at a time.

This programme is for you if you want to look and feel better. You’re looking for sustainable weight loss, you want to get off the diet cycle, you need help with emotional or stress eating.

You want weight loss to be as enjoyable as possible, with maximum satisfaction and as little discomfort as possible.

And you want to feel empowered by your nutrition and lifestyle choices, guilt-free and able to stay consistent well beyond the 12 months of the programme.
