What are your store cupboard essentials?
Running out of food in the house is a problem if you want to lose weight because it means you will go to buy food on an empty stomach without planning what you eat, and so you’ll be more likely to buy the wrong food types – you know the ones.
In addition to this you may well get a snack to ‘fill a gap’, but as we all know, this probably isn’t the best food for your goal either.
Store Cupboard Essentials – What To Stock Up On
The below five items may not be the best of the best, but more of a great item to keep in stock that will keep, for those days when the cupboard really is bare.
Eggs
If you always have eggs should always be able to make yourself a nutritionally responsible meal. Scrambled eggs, a savory omelet, poached eggs, a mushroom omelet. Eggs are such a great food source you should never be without them.
Fresh or Frozen berries
Mixed with seeds or nuts
Onions and Garlic
Onions and garlic instantly make food more interesting, and form the basis of so many dishes.
Frozen Vegetables
Stick a couple of bags of your favourite frozen veggies in the freezer, and you’ll never be caught short. Fresh is best though.
Nuts & Seeds
These can be used raw or toasted, and can be added to almost anything. Toasted pumpkin seeds make a great alternative to croutons on soup.
So, there you have it. These foods are not bad at all, and easy to stock up on. They will help you make better food choices and prevent you from going hunger-shopping, and likely to relapse into poor eating habits. So, stay stocked up!
